Trihydro Corporation is proud to have provided the engineering design for the first abandoned mine land (AML) project to be completed with Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) funding. The project was commissioned by the Railroad Commission of Texas, Surface Mining and Reclamation Division, and was conducted under its AML Program. The project’s goal was to mitigate erosion and flooding caused by mining features on a private landowner's property.
Geomorphic design principles were used to create an erosionally stable channel that is aesthetically pleasing and provides proper stormwater drainage of the site. The project showcases the Railroad Commission of Texas’s ability to quickly and effectively respond to mine-impacted sites identified by the public.
As the prime consultant, Trihydro's project team included Balcones Geotech LLC (geotechnical and sampling services), GCO Labs (soil analysis services), and SWCA (wetland delineation services).
