Professional Engineers Day

Did you know that Wyoming was the first state to issue a professional engineering license?

On August 8, 1907, Wyoming made history for being the first state to enact laws regarding the licensure of professional engineers. The state’s first P.E. license was issued to Charles Bellamy, and since then licensed P.E.’s nationwide have made significant contributions to protect public welfare.

As a way to honor the dedication of these professionals, the Wyoming Society of Professional Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) declared August 2, 2017 as Professional Engineers Day in Wyoming. Governor Matt Mead signed the Professional Engineers Day proclamation during a ceremony in Cheyenne, and additional signings took place in government offices in Laramie, Wyoming on August 1, 2017.

Take part in the second annual holiday by joining the conversation and posting updates on social media with the tag #LicensedPEDay. To learn more about Professional Engineers Day visit NSPE’s website
