Transportation Technology

REQUEST SERVICE

As departments of transportation (DOTs) and cities work to integrate technology into transportation systems and city operations, they often rely on a patchwork of technologies to make things tick. The scale of deployment demands a more integrated approach, and without one, DOTs and cities risk overspending and spinning their wheels.

Trihydro uses advanced information and communication technologies to deliver smart transportation solutions, like connected and autonomous vehicles (CAV technology), and can help local and state DOTs use existing infrastructure to take advantage of emerging transportation technologies without the major price tag.

TRAVELER INFORMATION

TRAVELER INFORMATION

Traveler information improves safety and efficiency by providing real-time information about traffic conditions, road closures, and other hazards. Trihydro’s traveler information services include system design and integration, deployment and maintenance, data exchange, and training and support.

Trihydro has two proprietary software solutions to facilitate traveler information: SDX® and CORVUS®. SDX is a central message repository service that allows third parties to retrieve reliable and accurate travel information. CORVUS is an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) platform that automates message creation considering all necessary standards, such as SAE J2735 and J2540/2.

Together, SDX and CORVUS provide a range of traveler information services to connected vehicles (CVs), including real-time traffic conditions, road closure information, construction zone warnings, hazardous weather advisories, emergency vehicle notifications, and alternative route suggestions.

WORK ZONE MESSAGING

WORK ZONE MESSAGING

Work zones are a necessary part of maintaining the national roadway network. Work zones often involve changes in the driving experience from lane closures, lane shifting and narrowing, and reduced speed limits, which can create conditions that increase the risk of traffic crashes and fatalities. Providing drivers with helpful information as they approach and pass through work zones can increase the safety of drivers and workers present on the site.

ROAD CONDITION DETECTION

ROAD CONDITION AND INCIDENT DETECTION

Unforeseen incidents and adverse weather conditions can disrupt the flow of traffic and compromise road safety. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) have revolutionized road condition and incident detection, providing real-time information to traffic management centers (TMCs) and drivers.

CONNECTED VEHICLE DEVELOPMENT
CONNECTED VEHICLE DEVELOPMENT AND DEPLOYMENT

Nearly 5.8 million traffic incidents occur every year. CAV technology has the potential to reduce traffic injuries and fatalities and improve traffic flow by facilitating information exchanges throughout the transportation system.

SAFETY FOR VULNERABLE ROAD USERS
SAFETY FOR VULNERABLE ROAD USERS

Close to 20% of traffic fatalities involve vulnerable road users. Intelligent transportation systems hold the potential to improve safety for vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists. Situational awareness for drivers and vulnerable road users, especially at intersections, is necessary to prevent and reduce fatalities. Trihydro’s SDX provides safety messages that can be delivered through third parties to improve awareness and safety related to vulnerable road users.

TRAFFIC SIGNAL PRIORITY
TRAFFIC SIGNAL PRIORITY AND PRE-EMPTION

When seconds count, efficient traffic management is essential for emergency vehicles, public transit, and other priority vehicles like snowplows. Advanced traffic signal priority and preemption systems are designed to cater to the needs of high-priority vehicles, enabling them to navigate through traffic with ease.

REALTIME DATA ANALYSIS
REALTIME DATA ANALYSIS

Trihydro works with DOTs to simplify and integrate intelligent transportation systems with existing infrastructure. We work closely with DOTs and other authorities (ports and airports) to document requirements and build event streaming platforms (ESPs) that accurately and quickly process large amounts of CV data in real-time.

DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE
DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE

New transportation technologies advance transportation through safer, cleaner, and future-forward solutions. With the emergence of CAVs and other new transportation technology, the physical roadway system needs to be represented through a digital layer, enabling real-time communication, data exchange, and data storage that will improve safety, mobility, and equity.

Trihydro’s value to the WYDOT CVP project cannot be overstated. We were all dealing with a first-of-its-kind effort and the Trihydro team was a true partner – from digging into requirements and helping to integrate technology in our Transportation Management Center to ensuring smooth rollout to stakeholders. We continue to enjoy our working relationship with Trihydro and would highly recommend them to other DOTs.

TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS
SDX

SDX® is a nationwide scalable solution that allows DOTs to exchange transportation data such as traveler and work zone information to increase driver safety and enhance traffic flow efficiency.

Corvus

CORVUS® is an ITS solution that helps DOTs and traffic management centers create, manage, and distribute CAV TIMs without costly custom software development and integration.
